Ortho Image Formats
TIFF (GeoTIFF)
GeoTIFF is a georeferenced raster format that stores imagery together with spatial reference information (coordinate system and projection) inside the file, enabling accurate placement in GIS systems and supporting data such as satellite images, orthophotos, and elevation rasters.
- Common use: Topographical mapping, web mapping applications
JP2 (JPEG2000)
JPEG2000 is an image compression format that provides both lossy and lossless compression with higher quality at lower file sizes than traditional JPEG, using wavelet-based encoding and supporting features such as progressive decoding and region-of-interest access for efficient storage and transmission of high-resolution imagery.
- Common use: General mapping
Panoramic Image Formats
SkyGIS supports panoramic images stored within E57 files. In addition, the following vendors' image export formats - most commonly JPG+CSV - are also supported as standalone inputs.
