Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about SkyGIS.
What file formats does SkyGIS support?
SkyGIS supports a wide range of formats across its packages. Supported point cloud formats: E57, LAS, LAZ, RCS, RCP, and text-based formats. Supported vector formats: DXF, DWG, SHP, GPKG, GeoJSON, KML, KMZ, LandXML, IFC, DGN*, CityGML*, and NWD*. Supported ortho/raster formats: GeoTIFF, JPEG 2000, JPEG, PNG, ECW. * Coming Soon. Please note that not all formats are available in every package. Refer to our detailed feature comparison for full compatibility.
Is there a file size limit?
No. SkyGIS uses progressive streaming, so files of any size can be uploaded and viewed. A 200 GB terrestrial scan works just as smoothly as a 500 MB room scan.
Do my clients need an account to view shared projects?
No. Shareable links open in any modern browser without requiring an account or software installation. You can optionally password-protect links.
What happens to my data if I downgrade my plan?
Your data remains stored and accessible in read-only mode. You can download your files at any time. If you exceed the storage limits of your new plan, you won't be able to upload new data until you free up space or upgrade.
How is pricing calculated?
SkyGIS offers fixed pricing packages for the Viewer plan, while Pro plans are priced individually based on specific requirements. If you require a larger Viewer package, please contact us for a customized pricing proposal tailored to your needs.
Can I use SkyGIS offline?
SkyGIS is a cloud-based platform and requires an internet connection to access and synchronize project data. However, selected project data can be stored locally on supported devices, allowing users to view and work with previously downloaded content when offline. Availability of offline access depends on the project configuration and subscription plan.
What coordinate systems are supported?
Full support for all EPSG-registered coordinate reference systems, with access to thousands of predefined projections worldwide. Local or custom coordinate systems - including datasets without a formally defined projection - are handled just as reliably.
How secure is my data?
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Enterprise plans support regional data residency, SSO integration, and audit logging.
Can I export data from SkyGIS?
Yes. All SkyGIS plans allow you to download and retrieve your uploaded data in its original format at any time. In addition, the Pro plan includes access to data conversion tools, enabling supported file format transformations for uploaded datasets.
Do you offer volume discounts or annual billing?
Yes. Annual billing means you pay for 10 months instead of 12 (two months free). Contact our sales team for volume discounts for organizations with large storage requirements.
What browsers are supported?
SkyGIS works in all modern browsers - Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend Chrome or Firefox for the best WebGL performance with large datasets.
How do I migrate from another platform?
Export your data in any supported format and upload to SkyGIS. Our team provides migration assistance for Enterprise customers, including automated batch imports.
